  1. I think your idea of the Campanile was a really good one. I know quite a lot of people would have simply chosen Georgia Tech as their setting but narrowing it down to the Campanile was a good choice. I think the Campanile was a good choice as well since it is a common meeting place on the campus. For choosing three images which provide the clearest visual description, I think you should definitely get one showing the Campanile with students because you would want to demonstrate to non-Georgia Tech folk that the Campanile is indeed what it is, a common meeting place for students. I love the panaromic shot of the Campanile as well because it shows part of the campus and the beauty of campus, much like the Spring setting of the Canterbury Tales. I also like the "Stadium Seating" photo because it captures the Campanile as a meeting place which facilitates interaction (because it of the circular seating whic gives a feeling of closeness etc.).

  2. The 3 images I think best describe the chosen setting are the picture of the campanile itself showing what is around it, the picture of the students walking around, and maybe the picture of the stadium seating.
The details in the 3 pictures that help depict the essential qualities of the setting are that the picture of the campanile shows how it is central part of campus that can be seen from most of campus. Also, the picture of the students show that the students are always walking around campus and it is a common place for students to hang out and relax between classes. Finally the stadium seating illustrates the seating that is available and most times there are students always seating around.
The elements of the composition in each image that help to convey the character or mood of the setting are the panorama is better due to the fact that it shows a wide view of the surroundings of the campanile and the black and white somewhat takes away from the detail of the campanile, and the contrast of the students around a not very colorful background makes them stand out.
The images might be modified to make them more effective at depicting the setting by maybe enhancing the colors to make the students stand out and dulling the background, or contrasting the main point of the picture to the background. This will enforce the point trying to be made.
The additional information that may be needed is more pictures of students actually hanging out at the campanile and socializing. Also to describe the setting adequately, you might include how it is central part of campus.
