The sound clip was gathered in Einstein Bros. Bagel Restaurant. The weather has been really cold lately and as a result, not many students have taken to gathering around the Campanile. As this is located close to the location I originally picked and is another gathering place for diverse students, I thought that the ambient noise in the cafe would suffice.

I think the idea was good in that you were trying to incorporate students' voices into your composition. However I'm not sure that it matched well with your pictures since there really are no students in your pics. I also think that given the types of pictures you used, the noise was incoherent and didn't enhance the shots you took, because they were beautiful shots. I think what might be better if you want to keep your audio clip would be to change your location to one that is more student-populated (even though we Georgia Tech know that that is what the Campanile is, but if let's just say this were geared towards a different audience, they would need to see evidence of why you chose your new setting for the Canterbury Tales). Or perhaps you might want to rethink your audio track to something else, for instance, since your photos truly capture the beauty of the Campanile and of the campus outdoors, I think this mirrors the essence of Spring that Chaucer wanted to convey in the General prologue so maybe you could get an audio track to complement this, like an outdoors-ish (is that even a word?) type music or something light and upbeat to convey the happiness and renewal that Spring brings.
ReplyDeleteThe revised draft responds to the feedback of the initial draft by choosing 3 specific pictures that represent the common meeting place like in the Canterbury Tales.
ReplyDeleteThe audio track somewhat complements the slideshow by having the noise of many people around and talking/ socializing. Although, it is somewhat confusing because the audio track is of Einstein's and i know it is a little too late to change all of your pictures but if the audio track is of Einstein's maybe your pictures should be also. The way you have many people in the pictures hanging out in a common place getting out of the cold weather.
The elements of the audio track that elaborate the thesis are that it has people talking in the background and the sound of the people working which is very similar to the people hanging out at the pub and the people working the pub. The element that needs to be improved is the fact that the audio track right now does not have much to do with the 3 pictures selected.
I am not sure of any additional information needed but just adding pictures that go along with the audio track would make this perfect because the audio track is very similar to Chaucer's setting! :)
